Sunset House Sardinia News - Happy Easter!

Easter in Sardinia? Better be prepared! If in Northern Europe (or Norther Italy) the weather can be tricky, alternating good weather to rainy and cold days, in Sardinia that's usually a time of sun and light, vivid colours and, of course, beach.

We're not officially in the season yet, but trust me: on Portopaglietto start appearing the first umbrellas, first towels, first bikinis and first swimmers! It is a rather popular thing, at us, even if it could sound strange... I'll tell you more: on Monday after Easter, going to the beach is a rule, for many people!

On that Monday Italians do the so called "gita fuoriporta", a classic city-break that takes people to visit some nice attractions in the surroundings. Day trips that allow them to spend with friends or family some nice time. Well, at us, that day is often spent on the beach.

Easter represents the first of a list of appointments that come before the start of the real season, which represent a good opportunity for a lazy day on the beach. Following we get "La Festa della Liberazione", 25 April, dedicated to the freedom from Fascist regime; "Sa Die de sa Sardigna", our official festivity that recalls a rebellion against occupants from Piemonte, in Cagliari; The First of May and the 2 June, the Day of the Republic, remembering when Italians voted in favour of the Republic, against the previous Monarchy.

So, in a way, we can say that we are starting our season. Happy Easter!
